The St. Paul Museum

Our History - Carved in Stone

St.Paul was originally established in 1816, shortly after Indiana became the 19th state in the union. Originally from Holland, Jonathan Paul searched for land to build a grist mill. He named the town Paultown.

In 1835, John Paul, Jonathan's son, took over and, in 1853, changed the name to St. Paul. The town has housed many industries, from stone quarries to goldfish farms.

Watch St. Paul's history as told by Gladys Pike, St. Paul Historian.
